Manager, Applied AI Architect

Location: Tokyo, Japan. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office presence. The role includes regular travel to customer sites.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a Japan Applied AI team of Solutions Architects and Product Engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Define team structure, coverage, goals, and best practices with Japan Applied AI leadership.
• Support high-value enterprise customers with AI adoption strategies, use-case scoping, technical champion development, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept execution.
• Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, GTM leadership, SIers, and resellers to develop adoption strategies for Japanese enterprises.
• Lead technical pre-sales engagements, validate customer ROI, present at conferences and webinars, and create technical content.
• Develop innovative solutions using Anthropic’s latest models while maintaining high safety standards and monitoring AI/ML trends.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, Sales Engineering, or a similar technical pre-sales role.
• 3+ years of experience managing technical go-to-market or pre-sales teams.
• Native or business-level Japanese and professional English proficiency required.
• Experience with Japanese enterprise customers, local business culture, consensus-based decision-making, technical procurement, SIers, and channel partners.
• Strong technical knowledge of enterprise AI deployments, API integrations, production LLM use cases, prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, AI-powered systems, developer tooling, and SDKs.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

• Familiarity with large language model or general machine learning architecture and operations.
• Experience identifying risks and benefits of emerging technologies and contributing to safe, societally beneficial AI.
• Active interest in emerging AI research and industry trends.
