Engineering Manager (Merchant Knowledge Platform)

Location: Hybrid in the New York Metro Area, United States

Salary: $193,800–$285,000 USD annual base salary, plus potential equity grants

What you will do

• Shape the technical vision and roadmap for a global merchant data platform supporting consumer and merchant experiences.
• Lead the architecture and operation of distributed systems serving large data volumes with high availability, low latency, and consistent performance.
• Partner with engineering, product, and business teams to develop reusable platform capabilities and prioritize investments.
• Coach, support, and develop engineers across different experience levels.
• Improve platform reliability and engineering practices, including the effective use of AI tools.

Requirements

• Experience managing engineers, including coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Experience leading technical projects, guiding architecture, reviewing detailed designs, and resolving complex implementation decisions.
• Experience building and operating large-scale backend or platform systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data access patterns, and reliability.
• Experience setting technical roadmaps and balancing partner needs with long-term platform investments.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions, priorities, tradeoffs, and expectations across teams.
