Staff Android Engineer (Android Platform)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $217,000–$303,900 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Set technical direction for the Android platform and lead initiatives across a large, multi-team codebase.
• Build and scale shared Android libraries, frameworks, observability foundations, and developer tooling.
• Drive developer experience improvements that accelerate build and test cycles and improve release safety.
• Architect client health and observability systems covering crashes, ANRs, performance, events, traces, and dashboards.
• Champion AI-powered developer and agent workflows.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence engineering standards through architectural reviews, documentation, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years building Android applications.
• Experience leading complex Android initiatives from problem definition through delivery and sustained adoption.
• Deep expertise in Kotlin, the Android lifecycle, concurrency, Jetpack Compose, and Kotlin coroutines.
• Experience with Android platform or infrastructure work, including shared libraries, frameworks, experiments, logging, navigation, startup and session orchestration, networking, or caching.
• Strong systems thinking, hands-on problem solving, and measurable impact on reliability, performance, or developer productivity.
• Practical experience applying AI to engineering workflows, such as code generation, refactoring, static analysis, or CI checks.
