Financial Analyst (Government Finance)

Location: Newport, Oregon; Gulfport, Mississippi; or fully remote within the United States

What you will do

• Track budgets and conduct in-depth financial analysis for NOAA’s Office of Marine and Aviation Operations.
• Examine, interpret, compile, and reconcile complex accounting data, transactions, and accounts.
• Develop and maintain financial tracking tools, reporting mechanisms, and complex analytical materials.
• Prepare briefing materials for management and clients.
• Resolve management and client inquiries related to financial data and processes.
• Generate, process, and track financial documentation while supporting senior specialists with complex activities.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
• At least 10 years of related financial experience.
• Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles, government financial management systems, budgets, appropriations, and audits.
• Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet and presentation software, including formulas and macros.

Nice to have

• Experience with government budget execution policies and NOAA systems and procedures.
• Experience with Wage Grade, Wage Mariners, and CAPS pay categories.
• Familiarity with NOAA financial management practices and Business Applications Solution systems.
