Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco; full-time, on-site work five days per week

Salary: $220,000–$320,000 annual base salary, plus equity

What you will do

• Turn customer requirements into production applications, integrations, agents, and evaluation tools.
• Partner with account executives and sales engineers on technical evaluations, custom demos, and competitive benchmarking.
• Own technical success for 1–3 enterprise accounts, including deployment support, troubleshooting, and adoption expansion.
• Build diagnostics, dashboards, and evaluation harnesses to measure performance and catch regressions.
• Explain technical trade-offs to customer stakeholders and identify additional use cases.
• Translate customer insights into product improvements and engineering priorities while helping establish the future FDE function.

Requirements

• 3+ years of full-time production engineering experience shipping software for enterprise customers.
• Strong production-level Python and engineering fundamentals, with independent ownership of production applications or AI pipelines.
• Solid understanding of AI, LLMs, and machine learning concepts.
• Experience with enterprise integrations, deployment troubleshooting, customer-specific constraints, and production support.
• Clear communication skills and confidence leading technical customer conversations.
• Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco five days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience at a recognizable, high-growth startup with strong engineering standards.
• Experience using Claude, Codex, or similar coding tools beyond autocomplete.
• Background as a backend-leaning engineer or customer-facing forward deployed engineer.
