Director, People Relations (Employee Relations)

Location: Charlotte, NC, US

Salary: $155,000–$175,000 annual base salary, depending on experience, with bonus potential; paid weekly.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a five-person Employee Relations team, including case managers and an intake coordinator.
• Set standards for caseloads, investigations, documentation, escalation, and case resolution.
• Oversee complex, high-risk, and precedent-setting workplace investigations and approve findings and recommendations.
• Partner with Legal and outside counsel on litigation holds, subpoenas, separations, settlements, EEOC charges, and agency complaints.
• Coordinate with People Business Partners, Safety, Compliance, and business leaders on employee matters.
• Track case trends, cycle times, and outcomes and recommend policy, training, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience with significant employee relations, workplace investigations, and labor relations expertise.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience, including management of case managers or similar HR professionals.
• Experience with union avoidance strategy, union organizing activity, EEOC charges, and other agency complaints.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment law across multiple jurisdictions.
• Must work from the Charlotte, NC, US location.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree or JD.
• HR certification such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR.
• Experience with HR case management platforms such as AllVoices, EthicsPoint, or Navex.
• Experience partnering directly with in-house or outside labor and employment counsel.
