Senior Security Engineer (Cloud Security)

Location: Remote - USA

Base salary: $153,000–$220,000 USD per year, plus potential bonus or incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build secure delivery workflows, policy gates, security scanning, and infrastructure-as-code controls for federal deployments.
• Design hardened system image pipelines and automate patch testing, rollout, validation, exception management, and compliance reporting.
• Enforce cloud identity, access, organization, and resource policies with preventive configuration guardrails.
• Own security logging and monitoring pipelines, including telemetry coverage, data quality, retention, alerting, and detection tuning.
• Develop response automation for alert enrichment, evidence preservation, investigation, and containment.
• Lead federal security incident response and partner with infrastructure, operations, product security, detection, and compliance teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years in cloud security engineering, DevSecOps, infrastructure security, or a related engineering discipline.
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS and cloud deployment pipelines.
• Strong experience securing infrastructure-as-code workflows and integrating security controls into delivery processes.
• Proficiency in a scripting or programming language, preferably Python, with experience automating operational work.
• Working knowledge of identity and access management in large cloud environments.
• Production experience with security monitoring and incident response, including investigation, containment, recovery, and follow-through.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD security automation, SecOps workflows, Terraform, containers, or SaaS security operations.
• Experience with FedRAMP, DoD IL4/IL5, government cloud environments, 3PAO assessments, or federal audits.
• Knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, continuous monitoring, security impact analysis, and technical evidence requirements.
• Experience building compliance automation, continuous control monitoring, or automated evidence management.
