Functional Expert I (RF Engineering)

Location: Arlington, Virginia, United States office. Travel may include locations within and outside the continental United States, including occasional international travel.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead daily coordination across technical, programmatic, financial, contracting, security, and transition activities.
• Apply radio-frequency and engineering expertise to evaluate technical evidence, challenge assumptions, and connect component advances to operational needs.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary support personnel while maintaining fiscal discipline, regulatory compliance, and execution continuity.
• Assess performer progress through technical reviews, site visits, laboratory results, tests, demonstrations, and program events.
• Prepare program reviews, test-readiness activities, executive briefings, technical assessments, decision materials, and other program documentation.
• Advise DARPA program managers on planning, technical execution, cost, schedule, risk, transition, and new program concepts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship required for security-clearance eligibility.
• Experience planning, directing, and coordinating personnel supporting complex defense R&D efforts.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, task-order expense review, and program management for work of comparable size, scope, and complexity.
• Technical depth in radio-frequency systems and engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and executive audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting DARPA, an advanced R&D organization, or a defense technical office.
• Experience coordinating research performers, test organizations, and transition partners.
• Familiarity with RF devices, communications, sensing, electronic effects, or hardware integration.
