Senior Software Engineer (Embedded)

What you will do

• Develop and test embedded software for unmanned aircraft, payloads, sensors, embedded processors, and robotic systems.
• Design software for prototypes and products, maintaining configuration control and software quality.
• Support system requirements, test plans, diagnostic tools, hardware selection, validation, and certification activities.
• Develop proof-of-concept demonstrations, troubleshoot complex hardware-software systems, and support flight-test operations.
• Estimate development effort, communicate milestones, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet program schedules and budgets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace, mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience troubleshooting complex systems.
• Expertise in Python, C, C++11, C++ STL, and/or OpenCL, with experience using an IDE and defect-tracking tools.
• Experience with RS-485, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPI, and USB protocols, plus strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and the candidate must hold or be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
• ITAR/EAR compliance requires U.S. person eligibility or the ability to obtain the necessary export license. Periodic travel within the Continental U.S. and irregular hours during deadlines or field testing may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with STM32 processors, RTOS systems, Video4Linux, Ubuntu Linux kernels, Linux/ARM drivers, ROS, Ardupilot, or PX4.
• Hands-on design and build experience with UAVs, R/C aircraft, or lightweight robotic systems.
• Advanced degree and strong communication, ownership, initiative, and teamwork skills.
