Cloud Security Engineer (Azure)

Location: Hybrid in Fairfax, Virginia, United States, with up to three days in the office. Travel of less than 20% may be required to CONUS/OCONUS customer sites and government installations.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Implement, configure, maintain, and support cybersecurity technologies, technical controls, and secure infrastructure across enterprise systems and Microsoft Azure environments.
• Apply hardening standards, secure configuration baselines, vulnerability remediation, patching, encryption, authentication, logging, and access controls.
• Deploy, tune, integrate, and troubleshoot SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, IDS/IPS, email security, identity, logging, and monitoring platforms.
• Analyze vulnerabilities, alerts, control weaknesses, and technical findings; coordinate remediation and validate closure.
• Provide engineering support during security incidents, including containment, investigation, recovery, log collection, and forensic preservation.
• Develop scripts, queries, automation, documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and technical procedures to improve security operations.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret security clearance are required.
• Active DoD 8140 IAT Level II Security+ certification or higher is required.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, security operations, systems administration, network administration, cloud security, or related technical security roles.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure security tools, Windows, Linux, networking, identity and access management, endpoint security, logging, vulnerability management, and security architectures.
• Experience applying cybersecurity requirements, hardening standards, vulnerability remediation guidance, and configuration baselines in Azure cloud environments.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS Controls, DISA STIGs, ISO 27001, or comparable security frameworks, plus strong technical troubleshooting and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as CySA+, GSEC, GCIA, GCIH, SSCP, CISSP, CCNA, AWS, Azure, or equivalent credentials.
• Experience supporting SOC, incident response, vulnerability management, compliance, or security engineering programs in enterprise or mission-critical environments.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, cloud security tools, identity platforms, scripting, APIs, or automation.
• Experience in government, defense, finance, healthcare, critical infrastructure, or other regulated environments.
• Deep understanding of Azure security services, logging, monitoring, and identity controls.
