Red Hat OpenShift Cloud Engineer SME (OpenShift)

Location: Hybrid remote/onsite supporting customer locations in Fairfax, VA and Springfield, VA; regular SCIF/onsite support is expected 3–4 days per week.

Salary: $175,000–$210,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, administer, upgrade, optimize, and sustain Red Hat OpenShift environments across AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, classified cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure.
• Own cluster lifecycle activities including configuration, patching, backup and restore, certificates, operators, security, networking, storage, performance, and capacity management.
• Act as the senior escalation point for production failures, performing root cause analysis across control plane and worker nodes, networking, storage, ingress, DNS, authentication, registries, and workloads.
• Automate infrastructure and application configuration using Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, Helm, and GitOps.
• Integrate OpenShift with CI/CD pipelines, container registries, artifact repositories, security scanning, and enterprise networking.
• Advise customers and leadership on architecture, migrations, risks, technical tradeoffs, standards, and operational procedures while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent directly relevant experience.
• Active TS security clearance and eligibility and willingness to obtain SCI access and a CI polygraph.
• 7+ years of infrastructure or platform engineering experience, including substantial Kubernetes experience and at least 3+ years of hands-on production Red Hat OpenShift engineering or administration.
• Expertise with OpenShift and Kubernetes architecture, deployment, administration, upgrades, workload management, and troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux administration experience with RHEL and RHCOS, plus experience with AWS, Azure, or comparable enterprise cloud infrastructure.
• DOD 8570-01M IAM Level I certification or better, such as Security+.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph and Red Hat or comparable certifications.
• Experience with bare-metal, hybrid, multi-cloud, and air-gapped OpenShift environments.
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Argo CD, OpenShift GitOps, GitLab CI/CD, and enterprise container registries.
• Experience with RMF, STIGs, POA&M remediation, ATO sustainment, enterprise storage, and classified cloud environments.
• Experience supporting GPU-enabled Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms and containerized AI/ML workloads.
