Senior Engineer I, Platform, Cloud (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid with on-site work in the Boston office 3 days per week

Base salary: $155,000–$175,000 per year, plus potential discretionary incentive compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and operate cloud services and reusable platform tooling across AWS, Kubernetes, and related PaaS/IaaS environments.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code components with Terraform, CDK8s, Crossplane, and EKS add-ons.
• Operate GitOps delivery on Kubernetes using ArgoCD, Helm, Kustomize, and GitLab CI.
• Support AI and quantitative research workloads, including Bedrock-hosted models and HPC compute.
• Improve observability, availability, security, and cost efficiency using OpenTelemetry, New Relic, CloudWatch, Vault, IAM, autoscaling, and right-sizing.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, review changes, maintain documentation, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of engineering experience; a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
• Experience building and operating scalable services in AWS, with practical knowledge of Linux, containers, Kubernetes, networking, and storage.
• Experience with Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, CI/CD, and GitOps tooling such as GitLab CI and ArgoCD.
• Ability to develop services or libraries in Python and at least one of TypeScript, Go, or C#.
• Working knowledge of observability, secrets management, cloud security, least-privilege IAM, and Bash/POSIX Shell scripting.
• Practical use of AI coding assistants and understanding of LLM APIs, retrieval, agentic workflows, and tool/context protocols such as MCP.

Nice to have

• Financial services experience.
• Experience with CDK or CDKTF.
• Exposure to migration strategies for legacy workloads to AWS.
