Alarm Technician I (Security Systems)

What you will do

• Provide centralized technical support for alarm panel programming, diagnostics, and service issues.
• Monitor USPS alarm systems and support emergency dispatch operations across postal hubs, offices, outlets, and distribution centers.
• Support customer accounts and contract field technicians.
• Run database reports, including through RAMIV Preferred, and operate alarm monitoring software.
• Create reports, documents, and correspondence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a USPIS Moderate Background Investigation and obtain an elevated USPS Public Trust clearance.
• Onsite work at the USPS location in Dulles, Virginia.
• High school diploma or GED and at least one year of favorable experience in alarm monitoring, installation, or service.
• Fluent spoken and written English, including the ability to read regulations and prepare accurate reports.
• Strong computer and data-entry skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; typing speed of at least 45 WPM.
• Ability to monitor multiple computer screens, manage simultaneous radio, telephone, and software inputs, remain professional under stress, and work independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with alarm monitoring and computer-aided dispatch software.
• Experience setting up, troubleshooting, and testing digital alarm systems.
