Senior .NET Engineer (Legacy Modernization & Backend Systems)

Location: Home based in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States. The role is remote; infrequent travel of 10% may be required. Relocation is not provided.

Salary: $100,200–$137,000 per year, with possible incentive and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and modernize complex .NET back-end and front-end solutions.
• Drive software projects from design through delivery across the full product development lifecycle.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture discussions, documentation, and code reviews.
• Build scalable, secure, maintainable, performant, and reliable solutions.
• Integrate external systems and services using REST, SOAP, and related protocols.
• Coach engineers on test-first development, acceptance criteria, coding practices, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of software product development experience.
• Strong experience with .NET, C#, VB, .NET Framework 4.8, .NET Core or later, C# 10 or later, and MS SQL Server T-SQL.
• Experience with cloud and hybrid environments, infrastructure as code, automated pipelines, OCI-compliant containers, and Kubernetes or comparable container platforms.
• Knowledge of Git, design patterns, CQRS, domain-driven design, automated testing, object-oriented programming, and SDLC practices.
• Experience delivering scalable front-end and back-end systems and solving complex technical problems in Agile or Scaled Agile teams.
• Ability to work occasional overtime or after hours and spend prolonged periods working at a desk.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Azure, Docker, Azure DevOps, SSIS, PowerShell, ActiveBatch, and SonarQube.
• Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate or Azure DevOps Engineer certification.
