Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) (Event-Driven Microservices): Building event-driven microservices for an e-mobility financing platform serving riders and entrepreneurs across Africa with an accent on C#/.NET, cloud infrastructure, and production-scale reliability. Focus on designing scalable distributed systems, implementing observability and automated testing, and operating services through a DevOps lifecycle.
Location: Fully remote within UTC -1 to UTC +3 time zones; listed locations include the UK, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain.
Employment: Initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to extend or transition into a permanent role.

What you will do
- Build and operate event-driven microservices powering an e-mobility financing platform.
- Own backend solutions across architecture, implementation, deployment, production monitoring, and eventual decommissioning.
- Develop cloud-native services using C#/.NET and Azure.
- Design and maintain microservice integrations using Service Bus or comparable messaging technologies.
- Apply observability, automated testing, continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with engineers across UK, Europe, and Africa while contributing to technical quality and coaching.
Requirements
- Strong C#/.NET development experience.
- Experience with event-driven systems, Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing and developing microservices.
- Experience with Azure or another major cloud provider such as AWS or GCP.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana, testing, and deployment practices.
- Experience with AI coding tools, ideally Claude Code or similar, and a DevOps mindset.
