Research Scientist (Biology)

Location: College Station, Texas, United States. Full-time staff position; weekend, after-hours, and travel work may be required.

Texas A&M University’s Department of Biology conducts research and teaching across molecular biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, and related biological sciences.

What you will do

• Conduct complex independent research and work toward solving research-project questions.
• Analyze research data, summarize results, and contribute to papers, articles, publications, and technical progress reports.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain research worksites, supplies, and laboratory materials.
• Assist with grant acquisition and collaborate with researchers and faculty.
• Support student researchers, postdoctoral associates, and assistant or associate research scientists.
• Prepare research presentations and may supervise assigned staff or students.

Requirements

• PhD in a related field.
• Six years of related experience in a specialized and relevant research field.
• BSL-2 training and experience.
• Training and experience with mouse and rat handling, injections, euthanasia, and necropsy.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary collaborative team, multitask, and cooperate with others.
• Strong verbal, written, presentation, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• Proteomics data analysis experience.
• Knowledge of the innate immune system.
• Experience writing research papers.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture, immunostaining, and western blots.
• Experience with drug development programs and preclinical drug development.
