Vice President & Chief Counsel, Retail Advisory

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States; hybrid arrangement with at least four days per week in the office and up to one day working from home.

Base salary: $250,000–$300,000 per year, plus potential variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead legal support for the Retail Advisory business, including managed accounts, financial planning, investment research, and portfolio management.
• Advise executive leadership on strategic priorities, major initiatives, and acquisitions involving retail advisory solutions.
• Develop legal strategies supporting responsible growth, innovation, risk management, governance, and compliance.
• Interpret emerging legal, regulatory, and industry developments and explain their business implications.
• Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of attorneys and legal professionals.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of legal experience supporting investment advisory, wealth management, or financial services businesses; 15 or more years preferred.
• Deep expertise in the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and regulatory requirements applicable to retail advisory offerings.
• Experience advising executive leadership and leading attorneys and legal professionals.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in Minnesota, Massachusetts, or North Carolina, or eligibility for admission as in-house counsel.
• Must have valid U.S. work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship.

• Experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives and building high-performing legal teams.
