Staff Actuary (Health Insurance)

Location: Richardson, Texas, United States; Flex hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days remote. Other listed location: Chicago, Illinois.

Base pay: $92,700–$167,500 annually, plus an annual incentive bonus plan.

What you will do

• Assess the impact of business decisions and situations using statistics, financial theory, mathematics, and actuarial principles.
• Perform pricing, underwriting, statistical analysis, reserving, forecasting, and related actuarial functions.
• Analyze claims data and medical trends to support healthcare insurance decisions.
• Develop actuarial models and data-driven insights.
• Communicate complex data, analysis, results, and recommendations to different audiences.
• Manage small projects with limited interaction outside the Actuarial department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or another relevant discipline.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation and American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) membership.
• At least three years of actuarial experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation, training, development, and presentations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Healthcare or health insurance actuarial experience.
• Experience with medical trend forecasting, claims data analysis, pricing, and financial forecasting.
• Proficiency with SQL, R, and advanced Excel.
• Experience developing actuarial models and data-driven insights.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
