Engineering Manager

Location: New York, New York, United States; based in New York and working from the Nomad office 4+ days per week

Annual salary: $210,000–$250,000 plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead a team of 4–7 engineers responsible for part of the product, including AI intake agents, core data, integrations, patient services, field access, or workflows.
• Own planning, estimation, demos, retrospectives, delivery predictability, and the team's operating rhythm.
• Hire, coach, review, promote, and address performance gaps across the engineering team.
• Own reliability practices for production systems handling protected health information, including testing, observability, on-call, and incident response.
• Partner with Product on roadmap scope, sequencing, cost, and delivery trade-offs.
• Lead adoption and measurement of AI coding tools while maintaining engineering quality.

Requirements

• 2+ years as an Engineering Manager in the current or most recent role, leading 4–7 direct reports.
• 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, with strong technical credibility in design reviews, code reviews, incident response, and engineering support.
• Experience hiring, giving difficult feedback, managing underperformance, and promoting engineers.
• Experience establishing planning, estimation, retrospectives, and on-call practices and shipping end to end with a Product partner.
• Experience leading production cloud systems using TypeScript, Node, React, GraphQL, AWS, and PostgreSQL.
• Must be based in New York and work from the office 4+ days per week.

Nice to have

• Healthcare or other regulated-environment experience involving PHI, HIPAA, or SOC 2.
• Experience leading rapid growth at an early-stage company.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered or agentic features or leading adoption of agentic coding tools.
• Experience with enterprise B2B products and integrations such as APIs, SFTP, HL7, FHIR, or EDI.
