Engineering Manager (Healthcare)

Location: Remote

Base salary: $140,000–$190,000 per year, plus equity incentive eligibility and competitive benefits.

What you will do

• Architect and implement scalable backend services using PostgreSQL and Databricks.
• Build data adapters integrating imaging facilities, payers, and third-party administrators through FHIR, HL7, and DICOM standards.
• Design fault-tolerant, highly available systems that can scale from thousands to millions of orders.
• Establish recovery strategies, observability standards, error reporting, load testing, and stress testing practices.
• Write production code, conduct code reviews, document architecture decisions, and set engineering standards.
• Mentor backend and full-stack engineers while partnering with Product and DevOps on technical solutions, CI/CD, security, observability, and cost transparency.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with production software development and architectural responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience designing fault-tolerant, high-availability distributed systems and contributing hands-on to codebases.
• Hands-on experience with healthcare standards and compliance frameworks, including FHIR, HL7, DICOM, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, observability, cost optimization, and large-scale data platforms such as Databricks.
• Experience with DICOM processing and PACS interfaces, plus a background in healthtech, insurtech, or another regulated industry.

Nice to have

• Exposure to multi-agent systems, LLMs, or OCR for workflow automation.
• Experience with AWS services including S3, Fargate, App Runner, and Route 53.
