Software Developer, Senior (Remote Canada)

Location: Remote within Canada; Toronto, Ontario

Salary: $120,000–$135,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the investigation and resolution of complex production issues affecting healthcare clients.
• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize scalable and reliable platform software.
• Drive root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions to reduce recurring incidents.
• Provide technical leadership during incident response, troubleshooting, and client escalations.
• Review code, contribute to architecture and technical direction, and assess production risks.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers and maintain technical and operational documentation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring, SQL, Git, and distributed systems.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production environments, including debugging, observability, logging, and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability, maintainability, and risk assessment.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, making independent decisions, collaborating across teams, and mentoring developers.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare technology, HL7, or FHIR.
• Experience with integration frameworks such as Apache Camel.
