Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Fraud Decisioning)

Location: Remote Canada; candidates must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.

Base pay: CAD 181,000–241,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead large, cross-functional initiatives from project definition and technical specification through delivery, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Architect, build, deploy, debug, and maintain reliable fraud decisioning systems and tools.
• Write clear, high-quality code and review work to maintain consistent engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers, promote ownership, and support their professional growth.
• Collaborate with Product, ML, Analytics, Business, and other stakeholders to align requirements and initiatives.
• Conduct technical and soft-skill evaluations and help develop interview content and requirements.

Requirements

• 6–10+ years of software engineering experience with leadership responsibilities and experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience architecting, building, launching, coding, and maintaining complex systems.
• Strong ability to synthesize business, product, and technical requirements into high-quality system designs.
• Ability to design system modules and components while maintaining a broad architectural perspective.
• Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
