Strategic Finance Manager (AI)

Location: Palo Alto, California; must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area

Base salary: $190,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the financial model, operating projections, annual plan, quarterly forecasts, long-range plan, budgets, cash forecast, burn, runway, and headcount planning.
• Partner with accounting and department leaders on budget-versus-actual reviews, procurement, spending, and investment decisions.
• Own the go-to-market revenue forecast and define reporting for ARR, CARR, bookings, and retention.
• Model sales capacity, coverage, and commission plans with Sales leadership.
• Lead pricing analysis and improve gross margin across subscription and consumption-based models, including AI inference and delivery costs.
• Prepare board materials, support fundraising and diligence, and use AI and automation to improve planning and analysis.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, or consulting.
• Expert financial modeling skills, including operating models and full three-statement projections.
• Experience owning budgets and forecasts in a high-growth company.
• Experience forecasting SaaS revenue, including consumption- or usage-based models, and analyzing pricing, unit economics, and gross margins.
• Experience preparing board materials or supporting a fundraise, with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice to have

• Investment banking or private equity experience followed by strategic finance work at a high-growth startup.
• Experience with AI business models, sales commission design, government contracts, or professional services businesses.
• SQL or business intelligence tool skills.
