Product Counsel (Cryptocurrency)

What you will do

• Advise product, engineering, IT, business development, marketing, and other teams on product development and commercialization.
• Provide guidance on privacy, data security, marketing, consumer protection, risk management, compliance, and partner relationships.
• Draft and manage user agreements, services agreements, terms of service, licensing agreements, and commercial contracts.
• Research novel legal, regulatory, blockchain, and cryptocurrency questions and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal and external counsel, partners, and regulators on complex legal and regulatory matters.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and 6+ years of relevant legal experience at a top law firm, government agency, or in-house legal department.
• Admission and good standing with a state bar or the District of Columbia; Illinois admission or eligibility to register as in-house counsel in Illinois is preferred.
• Familiarity with state and federal consumer financial services laws, data security requirements, and privacy laws.
• Strong interest in emerging technologies, particularly blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
• Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, cross-functional, and project-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial services, money transmitters, or cryptocurrency firms.
• Experience developing and advising on compliance programs.
• Experience with GDPR, GLBA, and CPRA privacy regulations.
• Experience with arbitration, alternative dispute resolution, customer complaints, or terms-of-service management.
