TL;DR
Product Research Physicist (Quantum Computing): Developing control requirements, architectures, and product solutions for neutral-atom quantum computing systems with an accent on analog signal chains, real-time control flow, and system scalability. Focus on modeling and validating control solutions, identifying bottlenecks in large systems running quantum error correction, and translating experimental physics into product requirements.

Location: Remote role associated with the Stuttgart, Germany office

Company

hirify.global develops hybrid hardware and software control systems for quantum computers, supporting systems from individual qubits to arrays of thousands.

What you will do

  • Build an end-to-end understanding of control requirements for neutral-atom platforms using optical tweezers and lattices across state preparation, gating, and readout.
  • Characterize analog signal chains and real-time control flows for neutral-atom experiments.
  • Define how control architectures scale from small qubit systems to large systems running quantum error correction.
  • Translate physics insights into product requirements and reference architectures while collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams.
  • Validate solutions through modeling, simulation, experimental-platform engagement, and benchmarking against real neutral-atom control needs.
  • Engage with customers, partners, and the neutral-atom research community to inform the product roadmap.

Requirements

  • PhD in quantum physics or a closely related field.
  • At least 3 years of experimental quantum physics and/or quantum computing experience.
  • Strong record of scientific achievement.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, including presentation skills.
  • Strong organization, time management, independence, and discipline.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experimental experience with neutral-atom systems.

Culture & Benefits

  • Remote work associated with the Stuttgart office.
  • Work alongside hardware, firmware, and software specialists.
  • Engagement with customers, partners, and the broader neutral-atom community.
