TL;DR
Product Research Physicist (Neutral-Atom Quantum Computing): Developing control requirements, architectures, and solutions for neutral-atom quantum computing platforms with an accent on analog signal chains, real-time control flow, and scalable system design. Focus on modeling and validating control solutions, identifying bottlenecks for quantum error correction, and translating experimental physics into product requirements.

Location: Remote role associated with Boston, MA, USA

Company

hirify.global develops hardware and software for hybrid control systems that operate and scale quantum computers.

What you will do

  • Develop an end-to-end understanding of control requirements for neutral-atom platforms using optical tweezers and lattices across state preparation, gating, and readout.
  • Characterize analog signal-chain and real-time control-flow requirements for neutral-atom experiments.
  • Define scalable control approaches for systems ranging from a few qubits to large systems running quantum error correction.
  • Translate physics insights into product requirements and reference architectures with hardware, firmware, and software teams.
  • Validate solutions through modeling, simulation, experimental engagement, and benchmarking against neutral-atom control needs.
  • Engage with customers, partners, and the neutral-atom research community to inform the product roadmap.

Requirements

  • PhD in quantum physics or a closely related field.
  • At least 3 years of experimental quantum physics and/or quantum computing experience.
  • Track record of excellent scientific achievements.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, independence, discipline, and self-direction.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experimental experience with neutral-atom systems.

Culture & Benefits

  • Remote work arrangement associated with the Boston, USA location.
  • Collaboration across hardware, firmware, software, customer, partner, and research communities.
  • Opportunity to contribute to quantum-computing control systems designed to scale to thousands of qubits.
