Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid work from an office in Los Angeles or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $150,000–$192,000 annual base salary for roles based in San Francisco and Los Angeles; final offers vary based on location, experience, expertise, and role scope.

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship full-stack features across payment services, entitlement systems, checkout, subscriptions, and creator monetization experiences.
• Own end-to-end correctness of money movement, including idempotent charge handling, entitlement state, payment reconciliation, and payouts.
• Integrate and maintain payment and commerce partners through authentication, webhooks, versioning, rate-limit handling, and graceful degradation.
• Instrument features and use conversion, churn, and failed-payment recovery data to guide product improvements.
• Partner with product, design, finance, and partnerships to turn revenue opportunities into measured features.
• Improve engineering standards through clear writing, thorough reviews, mentoring, and AI-assisted development.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production full-stack features.
• Strong full-stack skills with TypeScript, Node, React, PostgreSQL or MySQL, GraphQL, and AWS.
• Production experience with payments, billing, subscriptions, or another domain requiring idempotency, retries, reconciliation, and partial-failure handling.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and SDKs, including authentication, rate limits, webhook ordering, and provider outages.
• Experience working in a large established codebase and collaborating with product, design, finance, and partnerships.
• Must be based in Los Angeles or San Francisco and work in a hybrid setup from one of the offices.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Codex.
• Experience turning ambiguous revenue opportunities into shipped, measured features.
