Head of Business Risk & Controls (Fintech)

Location: United States - Remote. The role may be performed fully remotely or from a nearest Moonbase under a hybrid schedule.

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 USD annually, based on experience and location in the US.

What you will do

• Build and own the first-line risk and control framework, including risk assessments, control standards, documentation, governance, issue management, and monitoring.
• Translate regulatory requirements, policies, risks, and supervisory expectations into practical controls with clear ownership.
• Establish control monitoring and testing, assess weaknesses, drive remediation, and report on control effectiveness.
• Develop controls and governance for fiduciary, custody, and other regulated financial services activities.
• Partner with business leaders and Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit across the three lines of defence.
• Build the procedures, reporting, systems, and operating cadence needed to support increasing scale and complexity.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in US banking or regulated financial services.
• Significant leadership experience in first-line risk, business controls, operational risk, or a comparable control function.
• Hands-on experience designing and improving control frameworks, including monitoring, testing, issue management, remediation, and governance.
• Deep working knowledge of US banking regulation and supervisory expectations.
• Meaningful experience with fiduciary, trust, custody, transaction services, or closely related banking activities.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build control infrastructure in a high-ambiguity, fast-scaling environment.
