Design Engineer (React/TypeScript)

Location: London, UK; in-office

Base salary: £90,000–£130,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and implement end-to-end product experiences, from UX exploration and prototyping through production delivery.
• Build interfaces for knowledge graphs, process models, simulations, AI-assisted workflows, and complex operational data.
• Develop interaction models for entities, relationships, state changes, provenance, uncertainty, and history.
• Ship polished, responsive, and accessible React and TypeScript interfaces, including reusable components and interaction patterns.
• Improve design systems, design tokens, component APIs, and collaboration between design and engineering.
• Create coded brand and marketing experiences such as landing pages, interactive explainers, product announcements, and demonstrations.

Requirements

• Visual portfolio demonstrating exceptional product and interaction design, including substantial personally implemented work.
• Production-level ability with React, TypeScript, HTML, and modern CSS.
• Strong visual craft across typography, layout, spacing, hierarchy, color, states, and motion.
• Experience creating responsive, accessible interfaces from rough requirements and extending design systems or component libraries.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers on data models, APIs, state, performance, and technical constraints.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to explain design reasoning clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with data visualization, graph interfaces, diagramming tools, multiplayer applications, developer tools, AI products, simulation software, or other information-dense systems.
• Experience with SVG, Canvas, WebGL, animation, creative coding, design tokens, Storybook, Next.js, or open-source software.
