Senior Software Engineer, Accounting (TypeScript)

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of reliable systems for bookkeeping preparation, payables, payment workflows, and accounting automation.
• Build rules-based automation for payable and expense coding, spend-data enrichment, classification, validation, and reconciliation.
• Develop supplier and receipt management capabilities with clear accounting visibility and auditability.
• Design scalable architectures, domain boundaries, integration patterns, and workflows for complex financial rules and exceptions.
• Own technical initiatives from discovery and architecture through implementation, production rollout, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor engineers, raise engineering standards, and collaborate with Product, Design, Accounting, Operations, and Engineering teams.

Requirements

• Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
• Significant professional experience building and operating production software, preferably in a product-focused environment.
• Strong TypeScript expertise, particularly backend development with Node.js.
• Experience designing reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems using microservices, domain modelling, event-driven systems, and data consistency principles.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives, communicating trade-offs, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction.
• Strong product mindset and ability to understand complex business and financial workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience working at a level close to Tech Lead or Staff Engineer while remaining hands-on.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly.
