Associate Director, Payments/Scheme Economics (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own expertise in card scheme fees, interchange, operating regulations, and network rules across Visa and Mastercard.
• Translate scheme bulletins and fee schedules into financial, product, operational, and system requirements.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to maintain accurate fee tables, eligibility criteria, transaction-level logic, cost allocation, and customer billing.
• Establish governance, testing, reconciliation, and controls to identify payment-cost anomalies, leakage, and root causes.
• Build payment economics models, analytics, dashboards, and automated controls across markets, products, payment methods, and transaction types.
• Drive cost and margin optimization, pricing recommendations, product decisions, market launches, and escalations with Visa, Mastercard, and other payment partners.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience in payments, acquiring, issuing, card networks, payment infrastructure, or related fintech roles.
• Deep knowledge of Visa and Mastercard interchange, scheme fees, transaction qualification, and network rules.
• Experience translating complex payment rules into system logic, configurations, controls, interchange tables, BIN-based rules, or transaction-attribute logic.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including transaction-level data analysis, economic modeling, and reconciliation of expected versus actual payment costs.
• Strong commercial judgment, attention to detail, ownership, and ability to connect payment mechanics with pricing, product, and margin decisions.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, Data, Operations, and external payment partners.
