Mechanical Engineer (Packaging Machinery)

Location: Onsite in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Some travel is required.

What you will do

• Analyze customer specifications and application requirements, then design mechanical components and complete machinery systems.
• Design and model machined and fabricated parts, assemblies, structural frames, sheet metal components, shafts, bearings, housings, and drive components.
• Create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, assembly and layout drawings, bills of materials, and engineering change documentation using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and the Syteline ERP system.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles, materials knowledge, machining capabilities, assembly methods, and GD&T practices to create safe, functional, economical designs.
• Coordinate with sales, purchasing, production, aftermarket, field services, assembly technicians, and engineering leadership to support projects and customer delivery schedules.
• Interface with manufacturing and assembly teams during fabrication, mechanical completion, testing, and design revisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field is desired.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical design and/or application engineering.
• SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience required.
• Experience designing packaging machinery, with knowledge of product handling, machine capabilities, assembly principles, machining, and commonly used electrical systems and sensors.
• Ability to use engineering mathematics, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments, and to prepare technical reports and procedures.
• Strong communication, computer, coordination, and multitasking skills.
