Mechanical Engineer III (Manufacturing)

Location: Preferably based at the Allmand facility in Holdrege, Nebraska, USA; candidates near approved engineering locations in Wisconsin or Colorado may also be considered. Relocation may be available. The role includes regular collaboration with production and operations teams, time on the manufacturing floor, and less than 10% travel.

What you will do

• Lead or significantly contribute to new product development, product redesigns, and engineering improvements for mobile light towers and indirect-fired heaters.
• Develop and release 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation from concept through production implementation.
• Manage complex engineering projects while balancing performance, quality, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
• Develop Engineering Change Orders, investigate product issues, and implement corrective solutions supporting product reliability.
• Identify cost-reduction and continuous-improvement opportunities with purchasing, materials, manufacturing engineering, and operations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of related work experience.
• Experience creating and modifying complex 3D models and complete 2D drawing sets using SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, or comparable CAD software.
• Experience leading or significantly contributing to complex mechanical engineering projects from concept through release.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, project-management, collaboration, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Ability to work at or near an approved US engineering location, collaborate regularly with production and operations teams, and travel less than 10%.

Nice to have

• Experience designing indirect-fired heaters, furnaces, mobile light towers, or similar industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, AC power systems, or power-generation equipment.
• Experience with trailer design, sheet-metal enclosures, or mobile equipment.
• Experience with cost-reduction initiatives, Engineering Change Orders, and sustaining engineering.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or designers and working directly with production and manufacturing teams.
