Windows Server Architect (AWS GovCloud)

Location: 100% remote, US-based; availability required during core business hours from 8am-5pm ET.

What you will do

• Lead discovery and inventory of Windows Server roles, services, software, and dependencies.
• Design phased migration strategies from Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2019 or 2025 in AWS GovCloud, including EC2 sizing, AMI selection, go/no-go checkpoints, and rollback procedures.
• Define and validate hardening baselines using DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, Active Directory, and related federal security requirements.
• Design secure administrative access with RDP, jump servers, and CyberArk privileged access integration.
• Plan certificate management, IIS-dependent workloads, and Power BI Gateway server deployments.
• Coordinate with DevSecOps and Test teams on automation, configuration drift remediation, test strategy, risk tracking, and architecture documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent additional experience with an Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma.
• Experience leading Windows Server 2016 to 2019 or 2025 migrations in AWS, including planning, testing, and rollback; GovCloud experience is preferred.
• Hands-on Windows Server hardening experience using federal and industry baselines.
• Deep expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PKI, patching, Remote Desktop Services, and PowerShell.
• Experience with CyberArk privileged access management, AWS services for Windows workloads, and Ansible configuration management using WMI, WinRM, and PowerShell.
• Must be US-based and eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Windows Server or AWS certification.
• Experience with AWS Systems Manager, automated patching, Group Policy software deployment, Power BI Gateway, or hardened IIS servers.
• Experience supporting federal government systems with audit and vulnerability management.
