What you will do

• Lead the architecture, engineering, deployment, operations, modernization, and retirement of enterprise Unix and Linux platforms.
• Design scalable platforms across data centers and AWS, Azure, or GCP, integrating virtualization, containers, storage, networking, and enterprise management tools.
• Define standards and governance for operating-system builds, configuration baselines, patching, vulnerability remediation, privileged access, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.
• Drive infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, DevSecOps, automated provisioning, CI/CD, backup and recovery, configuration-drift control, observability, and cost optimization.
• Lead capacity planning, performance engineering, modernization, complex troubleshooting, and major incident response.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with cloud, storage, networking, database, middleware, cybersecurity, application, and service-management teams.

Requirements

• Relevant experience based on education: 2 years with a doctorate, 4 years with a master’s degree, 6 years with a bachelor’s degree, 10 years with an associate’s degree, or 12 years with a high school diploma/GED.
• Deep expertise in enterprise Linux architecture, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, or Amazon Linux, operating-system internals, hardening, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and capacity management.
• Experience designing and supporting highly available Unix and Linux platforms across physical, virtualized, and cloud environments, including clustering, disaster recovery, storage, networking, and service continuity.
• Advanced automation and scripting skills with Ansible, Python, Shell/Bash, infrastructure as code, source control, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure, virtualization, container platforms, monitoring, security controls, and hybrid-cloud architecture.
• Principal-level technical leadership, stakeholder communication, mentoring, and major incident coordination experience.

Nice to have

• Computer science, information systems, engineering, or related technical degree.
• RHCE, AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications.
• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, Puppet, standardized operating-system images, automated build pipelines, and compliance automation.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, privileged access management, LDAP, Active Directory, Kerberos, certificates, secrets management, CIS benchmarks, and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience with enterprise middleware and database dependencies on Unix/Linux platforms.
