Counsel, ISO/RTO Compliance

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid office attendance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Salary: $155,000–$215,000 USD annual base pay, plus eligibility for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

• Manage ISO/RTO compliance requirements across CAISO, PJM, SPP, MISO, ISO-NE, NYISO, and ERCOT.
• Coordinate market registrations, regulatory submissions, project onboarding, site acquisitions, and periodic certifications.
• Maintain compliance procedures, internal controls, preventive measures, deadlines, documentation, and supporting evidence.
• Monitor changes to ISO/RTO requirements and market rules, assess business impact, and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Energy Management on market rule and market design changes affecting the business.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.).
• At least five years of experience in power markets compliance, electric regulatory compliance, or market operations.
• Knowledge of FERC and ISO/RTO tariff structures across multiple markets.
• Experience with renewable energy assets and generator interconnection rules and requirements.
• Strong communication, organization, project management, prioritization, teamwork, and attention to detail.
• No visa sponsorship or employment authorization sponsorship is available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Specialized experience with CAISO and PJM markets.
