Senior Telecommunications Design Engineer

Location: Fully onsite at Bolling AFB in Washington, DC, United States

Compensation range: $160,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Perform daily operations and maintenance support for secure telecommunications and data center infrastructure.
• Maintain and troubleshoot telecommunications circuits, hardware, network systems, and Layer 1/Layer 2 infrastructure.
• Develop rack elevations, network and engineering diagrams, configurations, and bills of materials.
• Create IT architecture roadmaps and infrastructure modernization plans.
• Design, evaluate, install, configure, and integrate telecommunications and data center systems according to DoD and commercial standards.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to improve reliability, scalability, security, and mission readiness.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and supporting telecommunications or IT infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, network architecture, data centers, cabling, communications racks, and telecom rooms.
• Active TS/SCI or Top Secret clearance required.
• DoD 8140 certification required: Network+, Security+, Cloud+, SSCP, CASP+, CISSP, or CCNP Security.
• BICSI RCDD or an equivalent advanced telecommunications design certification required.

Nice to have

• CCNA certification.
• CTS-D certification for AV or communications integration.
• Manufacturer design certifications.
• Enterprise telecommunications architecture training.
