What you will do

• Manage governance for a multi-workstream data science transformation portfolio.
• Define and improve programme management standards covering planning, RAID, dependencies, change control, and benefits tracking.
• Provide independent delivery assurance, identify emerging risks, and coach programme and project leads.
• Run operating and steering committee governance, including agendas, decisions, actions, reporting packs, dashboards, and progress narratives.
• Maintain a coherent portfolio view, supporting prioritisation, sequencing, capacity, risk, and strategic value decisions.
• Support business cases, financial assumptions, investment planning, and benefits realisation with Finance.

Requirements

• Hands-on or leadership experience in data science, machine learning, or AI engineering, including sufficient technical understanding to assess delivery plans.
• Substantial experience in portfolio, programme, or transformation governance within a complex technical organisation.
• Experience reporting to senior and executive audiences and influencing stakeholders without formal authority.
• Strong practical knowledge of programme management methods such as MSP, PRINCE2, P3O, PMP, Agile, or SAFe.
• Experience developing or contributing to business cases, benefits tracking, and financial modelling.
• Strong analytical, written communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Exposure to AI governance and regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act.
• Professional accreditation such as MSP, PfMP, P3O, or PMP.
• Experience in publishing, information services, or another data-rich business.
