Hire Engineer (Generators)

Location: Walkden, United Kingdom. Onsite role with 12-hour shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rota.

What you will do

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on diesel generators from 20–1500kVA.
• Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs across hirify.global and Kohler generator fleets.
• Support mobile field engineers on occasion using a company vehicle and collect parts from local suppliers.
• Coordinate scheduling and handovers with Coordinators.
• Maintain accurate job records in the in-house system.
• Follow health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, including risk-assessment and safe-working procedures.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or time-served experience in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Hands-on generator experience, preferably with equipment rated from 20–1500kVA.
• Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points required; towing experience is advantageous.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to work both within a team and unsupervised.
• Ability to complete risk assessments and follow safe systems of work.
