Technical Staff, Mechanical Systems (Aerospace)

Location: Based in Mojave, California, United States; hybrid partial remote/on-site arrangements may be considered for well-qualified candidates. A 9/80 schedule applies.

Base salary: $147,667–$262,294 for Principal level or $168,450–$299,210 for Senior Principal level, depending on experience, education, location, and interview assessment.

What you will do

• Provide company-level technical leadership in mechanical design reviews, mentorship, conceptual design, and mechanical problem solving.
• Review mechanical designs throughout their lifecycle and establish technical standards, best practices, and common engineering toolchains.
• Lead or support high-impact problem-solving activities, including Failure Review Boards, root-cause and corrective-action efforts, and Tiger Teams.
• Develop engineering capability roadmaps and lead their implementation across the organization.
• Propose and lead Internal Research and Development projects, while supporting white papers, proposals, recruiting, and customer-facing activities.

Requirements

• In-depth experience with aerospace structures, mechanical design, kinematics, material selection, engineering drawings, structural analysis, aerospace manufacturing, test planning, and test data interpretation.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and experience solving high-impact, multidisciplinary, open-ended engineering problems.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences and collaborate with customers or external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with industry and military standards, regulatory specifications, and IRAD project leadership.
• Experience with MS Office and CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or Fusion.
• Must be a United States citizen and able to obtain a Department of War security clearance.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of systems engineering principles, especially requirements verification through testing.
• Experience owning technical roadmaps and supporting hypersonic vehicle development programs through flight testing.
• Active Department of War security clearance.
