Structures Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site at the El Segundo headquarters, California, United States

Salary: $105,000–$140,000 for E1, $120,000–$153,000 for E2, and $140,000–$180,000 for Senior Engineer per year. Additional incentives may include stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Derive hardware requirements and perform initial structural design trades from open-ended problem statements and stakeholder input.
• Assess the effects of design decisions on packaging, thermal conditions, environments, and loads.
• Own technical and administrative aspects of hardware delivery.
• Use hand calculations, finite element analysis, and 3D CAD to verify structural requirements.
• Design and execute development and qualification testing.
• Develop tooling for hardware integration and testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and at least one year of related experience with automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or similar structures.
• Knowledge of structural design, analysis, and testing based on first principles.
• Ability to perform structural analyses using hand calculations and tools such as Ansys, Femap, or Nastran.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software, ideally NX.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and interest in hands-on hardware work.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Experience developing aerospace hardware from concept through delivery, including qualification testing and space-environment design.
• Experience with Python, Matlab, or similar programming tools.
• Hands-on experience with assembly, fabrication, and machining of metallic parts.
• Familiarity with PLM software, ideally Teamcenter.
