Staff Accountant (Ecommerce)

Location: 100% remote, U.S.-based

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage day-to-day general ledger and accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, payment runs, vendor records, W-9s, and 1099s.
• Manage corporate card and expense activity, including transaction coding, receipt follow-up, and monthly statement reconciliations.
• Review daily bank feed activity in QuickBooks Online and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and undeposited funds between Maxio and QuickBooks Online with the billing team.
• Prepare month-end close entries, accruals, recurring journal entries, and supporting schedules for prepaids, fixed assets, and depreciation.
• Support sales tax tracking, Avalara reconciliation, audits, tax filings, and audit-ready documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including month-end close responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of accrual accounting under GAAP, including prepaids, fixed assets, and accruals.
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or a comparable general ledger system.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and reconciliation schedules.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude, reconciling data across multiple systems, and working independently in a remote environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Maxio, Chargebee, Zuora, Recurly, Ramp, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to SaaS or ecommerce accounting and subscription revenue recognition under ASC 606.
• Experience working on a lean finance team reporting to a Controller or CFO.
