TL;DR
AI Engineer (Agentic AI): Building agentic AI features, MCP servers, LLM agents, and backend services in Python and Java for an AI-powered training and communication SaaS platform with an accent on tool calling, multi-agent orchestration, authentication, and production observability. Focus on designing secure multi-tenant systems, evaluating agent behaviour, integrating distributed backend services, and maintaining reliability through testing and scalable architecture.
Location: Fully remote, limited to candidates based in Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, or Mexico. Work hours follow East Coast office hours.
Payment is in USD, made biweekly or monthly.

What you will do
- Build, run, and consume MCP servers, including tool design, authentication, OAuth, multi-tenant security, and deployment.
- Develop LLM agents with tool and function calling and multi-agent orchestration.
- Test and evaluate agent behaviour and implement production observability.
- Develop backend services in Python for AI and agentic work and Java for core platform integrations.
- Contribute to architecture, scaling, reliability, maintainability, code reviews, and technical debt reduction.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Quality Assurance to refine requirements and deliver tested solutions.
Requirements
- Must be based in Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, or Mexico.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- 4+ years of backend-heavy software development experience with Java and Python, including data structures, relational databases, and SQL.
- Production experience building AI-driven applications, agentic products, LLM features, MCP servers, tool calling, and multi-agent orchestration.
- Experience with microservices, unit and functional testing, and AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- Ability to work independently on defined problems, with familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, caching, and distributed systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with React and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with JavaScript design patterns and single-page applications.
- Experience with GCP and application infrastructure concepts.
