Software Engineer, AI/ML

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Base salary: $150,000–$225,000 per year

What you will do

• Create services, workflows, and reusable components for LLM-powered solutions.
• Work with stakeholders to understand use cases, assess AI opportunities, prototype solutions, measure outcomes, and move validated capabilities into production.
• Develop scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven workflows using Python or Java.
• Design for reliability, resilience, security, cost efficiency, and clean integration with existing services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building AI or generative AI features that connect model APIs to business workflows, data, documents, or internal services.
• Strong Python and/or Java software engineering skills, including API development, testing, debugging, asynchronous processing, and maintainable service design.
• Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud services.
• Exceptional communication skills, including translating business requirements into technical tasks, collaborating across teams, and explaining AI tradeoffs clearly and practically.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI orchestration patterns.
• Experience supporting a production system.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol.
• Experience with text, image, document, audio, or video models, including multimodal embeddings, OCR or document understanding, and content moderation workflows.
