Software Engineer, GenAI Platform (AI)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $153,120–$196,750 USD annual base pay, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build platforms and services supporting machine learning, generative AI, and agentic product experiences.
• Work with ML frameworks, LLMs, agentic systems, distributed systems, and GPU infrastructure.
• Design, code, test, launch, and operate production features at Roblox scale.
• Improve the speed, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency of AI development.
• Balance quality, latency, reliability, and responsible data use across large-scale systems.
• Partner with product, research, data, infrastructure, safety, creator, engine, discovery, and economy teams.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent engineering experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems, cloud services, or a related area.
• Experience building projects through coursework, internships, research, or personal work.
• Working knowledge of Go, Python, Rust, or another programming language, with willingness to learn new technologies.
• Interest in machine learning, generative AI, distributed systems, data infrastructure, or developer platforms.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across teams and disciplines.
