Lead Product Manager, Hardware Platform (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: San Francisco, CA; Toronto, ON; Pittsburgh, PA; or remote within the United States and Canada. Hybrid workplace with regular on-site attendance required for mock-ups, vehicle evaluations, and testing.

What you will do

• Own product requirements for the hardware platform across autonomous trucks and robotaxis.
• Define vehicle interactions with riders, law enforcement, first responders, and the public, including signaling, cabin monitoring, security, safety, and tamper resistance.
• Lead product definition for new hardware programs, converting real-world scenarios into requirements, acceptance criteria, and verification plans.
• Apply industrial design and human factors principles to displays, lighting, reach, controls, and other physical touchpoints.
• Validate concepts through mock-ups and real-vehicle evaluations.
• Partner with hardware engineering, OEMs, and suppliers to align requirements, constraints, costs, and implementation decisions.

Requirements

• Hardware background through mechanical, electrical, systems engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 8+ years of experience in product management, hardware product, or systems engineering roles involving physical products.
• Experience taking hardware from concept through production and managing requirements across prototype and sample stages.
• Industrial design experience and strong understanding of HMI and human factors.
• Strong requirements-writing skills, including acceptance criteria and verification methods such as testing, analysis, inspection, or demonstration.
• Experience working with OEMs and suppliers in a safety-critical environment, plus willingness to attend on-site evaluations regularly.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous vehicles or robotaxis, rider experience, external vehicle communication, or first-responder interaction.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and A/B/C sample phases.
• Exposure to ISO 26262, SOTIF, UL 4600, or vehicle regulations.
