Senior Platform Engineer (AWS/Terraform)

Salary: £80,000–£90,000 per year

What you will do

• Contribute to system architecture and design decisions, balancing scalability, maintainability, security, and delivery speed.
• Own services from design through production, improving reliability, performance, observability, and operational efficiency.
• Build infrastructure and operations automation, CI/CD pipelines, and production-ready platform components.
• Participate in planning, estimation, releases, incident response, on-call rotations, investigations, and post-mortems.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and engineers to align technical delivery with product strategy.

Requirements

• Considerable professional experience in Platform Engineering on complex, scalable systems.
• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, distributed cloud architectures, distributed systems, microservices, and resilience patterns.
• Experience operating production platforms handling at least 6,000 requests per second and applying enterprise deployment practices such as blue-green deployments.
• Proficiency with Terraform, configuration management, Python, Go, or a similar language.
• Experience with observability platforms, incident management, containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS.
• Experience mentoring engineers and using, or actively exploring, agentic AI tooling to improve productivity.

Nice to have

• Experience with chaos engineering and reliability testing.
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks.
• Open-source or wider software community contributions.
• Experience running ECS at scale and using generative or agentic AI to increase productivity.
