Design Engineer (AI)

Salary: $190,000–$240,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own product design and frontend development from customer problem discovery through production across the dashboard and payer-facing experiences.
• Design clear interfaces for AI agent actions, reasoning, approvals, and audit trails so finance teams can trust automation.
• Make invoices, disputes, payment plans, cash application, and customer hierarchies fast and scannable while preserving advanced controls.
• Build and maintain the component library, design tokens, and interaction patterns used across the product.
• Prototype solutions with customers, use research and product analytics to guide decisions, and define success metrics.
• Own post-launch craft, accessibility, performance, instrumentation, testing, debugging, and edge cases.

Requirements

• Portfolio demonstrating work that was identified, designed, built, shipped, and evaluated.
• Strong production experience with React and TypeScript in a large existing codebase.
• Strong visual and interaction design skills for complex, data-dense B2B products.
• Ability to reason about APIs, data models, and implementation details beyond the UI layer.
• Daily experience using coding agents, with the ability to test, debug, and take responsibility for their output.
• Experience working with high ownership in a fast-growing startup and incomplete-information environments.

Nice to have

• Experience designing AI agent or copilot experiences, including human-in-the-loop approvals, explainability, or conversational analytics.
• Background in fintech, B2B payments, ERP, or AR/AP workflows.
• Experience building design systems or component libraries adopted by engineers.
• Experience with data visualization, operational dashboards, or enterprise configuration surfaces.
