Program Manager, South (Civic Education)

Location: Hybrid remote; must live in Kentucky by the time of hire. The role requires reliable transportation and travel of up to 30% for monthly in-person team days, school visits, retreats, partner meetings, conferences, and Civics Day events.

Salary: $66,120 per year.

What you will do

• Manage relationships with teachers, schools, districts, and community partners across the South region.
• Coach middle and high school educators on civics curriculum, pedagogy, and equitable civic learning practices.
• Lead professional development workshops, presentations, school-based events, and regional Civics Day activities.
• Support youth-led policy campaigns, legislative testimony, advocacy efforts, and civic learning coalitions.
• Track, analyze, and report program data using UpMetrics while contributing to site quality goals.
• Support regional fundraising and collaborate on communications, research, and advocacy materials.

Requirements

• At least two years of middle or high school classroom teaching experience in the humanities.
• Strong written, oral, presentation, organization, time management, and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Knowledge of the South region’s education and policy landscape through civic or policy engagement.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, Google Workspace, and Canva.
• Must be based in Kentucky, able to commute to districts throughout the state, and have reliable transportation.
• Ability to follow local COVID-19 policies at various sites and participate in required in-person activities.

Nice to have

• Experience in education policy, civics, U.S. history, or social studies.
• Experience with youth leadership, legislative advocacy, coalition work, or community-based civic initiatives.
