Engineering Manager – Backend & Infrastructure (AI Posture)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; primarily office-based

Salary: $197,200–$319,000 per year, with potential bonus and restricted stock units

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a backend engineering team of 8–10 engineers.
• Drive adoption of AI tooling, automated testing, profiling, and modern engineering practices.
• Lead the design and optimization of high-throughput, low-latency Go microservices.
• Partner with Infrastructure and Platform teams to optimize memory usage, compute density, cloud resources, cost, and latency.
• Align technical priorities and multi-quarter roadmaps with Product Management, Security, and SRE.
• Drive production readiness through deployment pipelines, telemetry, tracing, performance tuning, and incident response.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience managing software engineering teams working with distributed backend systems.
• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong systems-level expertise in Go and concurrent programming.
• Experience designing, building, and operating high-concurrency microservices at scale.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure layers, Kubernetes, Docker, and at least one major cloud platform: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience mentoring engineers and building inclusive, high-trust teams.
• Practical experience using AI tools to improve engineering productivity.

Nice to have

• Experience with network discovery, traffic analysis, packet processing, or network protocol engineering.
• Experience with Kafka, gRPC, BigQuery, Redis, or MongoDB.
• Experience in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, cloud security posture management, or AI risk vectors.
